On December 7-9, 2012, the Asia Pacific Conference* 2012 was held at APU by the Ritsumeikan Center for Asia Pacific Studies. Held over three days, this international conference brought together researchers and scholars from Japan and as far afield as the UK, Sweden, Australia, Kazakhstan and Indonesia. Participants from 31 institutions in 13 different countries/regions attended the conference.
On December 20, 2012, Assoc. Prof. Yukio Yotsumoto (Asia Pacific Studies, APU) was invited to present an RCAPS Seminar entitled How Does Religion Fight against Natural Disasters?: A Case of Japanese Buddhism."

On Monday, 10th December 2012, RCAPS was conducting a seminar with the title "WHO's Role in Public Health: Tobacco Control as an Example". The guest speaker was Mr. Loic Garçon, the Technical Officer, Kobe Center, World Health Organisation (WHO).
On Thursday, December 6, 2012, Dr Mamoru HARUNA, a Professor Emeritus of the Institute of Science & Engineering of Ritsumeikan University, gave an RCAPS Seminar entitled “Planning and Management Methodology for Urban Development based on Systems Approach and Case Studies.”
