Philippines - Japan Strengthening Strategic Partnership in the Asia-Pacific: Views from Both Sides
On Wednessday, May 18, 2016, RCAPS welcomed Ambassador Toshiba Urabe, former Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines and Minister and Consul General Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio to deliver an RCAPS seminar entitled, "APU DIPLOMATIC FORUM Philippines- Japan Strengthening Strategic Partnership in the Asia-Pacific: Views from Both Sides". The seminar was held in English.
The APU Diplomatic Forum formally opened with a welcome remarks delivered by one of the Filipino Professors in APU, Prof. Robert C. Salazar, Dean of the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies. Forty-five (45) persons attended the forum. The first presentation was about the views from the Philippines about the strategic partnership between Philippines and Japan presented by Minister and Consul General Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio. The second presentation was by Ambassador Toshiba Urabe, former Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines (2011-2014) prior his retirement regarding three major points: Cultural Affinities, Complementary Economies and Common Values. The forum had around an hour for questions and answer with a number of questions about the Philippines and the China relations, Filipino children by Japanese parentage about women in the Philippines.
