Mr. MAKHMUDOV Aziz(Doctoral student, Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies, APU) gives a lecture at a RCAPS Seminar :

On October 7nd (Wednesday), a RCAPS sponsored seminar was held at APU.

The seminar welcomed Mr. MAKHMUDOV Aziz(Doctoral student, Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies, APU). His lecture was titled, "International Relations of Central Asia: Theories and Realities of Post-Cold War Period".

Based on his research into regional policy in Central Asia, a wide range of issues were raised which he illustrated with data on the international relations of the region such as historical factors, regional security and the roles of international organisations in regional cooperation.
In addition, Mr. MAKHMUDOV also underlined the important roles played by supra-regional organisations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) in the economic and security relationships in the region.
A Q&A session was held at the conclusion of the lecture during which several insightful questions were raised by both the professors and audience.
The RCAPS seminar proved to be both an opportunity for the audience to gain an insight into the issues facing the Central Asian region and also for Mr. MAKHMUDOV to gain feedback from his peers as he works towards the completion of his research.
RCAPS was established in July 1996 with a mission to promote and foster research into the multifaceted developments and challenges that face the Asia Pacific region in the 21st Century. RCAPS seminars are held regularly at which lecturers from both on and off campus are invited to share research findings in the field of Asia Pacific Studies.
