Taiwanese Week has begun!

Jan 13, 2009

Taiwanese Week –an event introducing the culture and language of Taiwan –began on Tuesday January 13, 2009, and has immersed the APU campus in Taiwanese culture. Taiwanese Week will run until Friday 16. Every year APU holds Multicultural Weeks to introduce the culture and language of the students studying here from 87 countries and regions around the world. In the 2008 Spring Semester, 5 countries/regions were introduced over approximately 1 month such as Chinese Week and Thai Week. During the Fall Semester, countries and regions such as Latin America, Mongolia, Japan and Taiwan have been put in the spotlight.

This is the first time that the spotlight will be shone on the region of Taiwan. The Cafeteria will be decorated with Taiwanese ornaments and there will be plenty of Taiwanese national dishes available. During the week there will be a Taiwanese quiz tournament and prizes for those who give the correct answers. On Friday 16 (the final day) at the Millennium Hall you will be able to see the "Final Performance" which will introduce the music and dance of the different Taiwanese regions.
