To Oita Prefecture and Beppu City residents

Jul 6, 2009

We deeply apologize to Prefecture and City residents for any disturbance and concern caused. On Monday, July 6, 2009, cases of Influenza A Virus Subtype H1N1 (hereafter referred to as Swine Flu) have been confirmed in a third student at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University.
In light of this, we considered future preventative measures in collaboration with the East Oita Prefecture Health Centre and decided to close the entire campus for one week from Tuesday, July 7 until Monday 13.

In line with this, not only lectures, but also on-campus student events, extracurricular activities and the dispatch of students to local activities have all been cancelled during this period. Also, all non-urgent student outdoor movement is prohibited and we ask that students stand by at home.
While consulting with the Oita Prefecture Swine Flu Measures Division and the East Oita Prefecture Health Centre, a fifth case of student infection was confirmed on Thursday, July 9 after attempts to ensure thorough healthcare amongst our students.

We humbly ask for your understanding and continued support.
