From the end of August through September 2009, the Japanese Lacrosse Association affiliated APU Men's and Women's Lacrosse Team MARIQUITA will host matches on the APU Main Ground.
The APU Men's Lacrosse Team, ranked 4th in the league last year, was established in 2002 and currently has 45 members. Established in 2003 and with 24 current members, the Women's Lacrosse Team was ranked 5th in the league last year. Both the men's and women's teams are training hard to work their way up the Kyushu league.
Ahead of the matches, OKIHARA Junya of the Men's Lacrosse Team spoke of his aspirations for success in the upcoming games, "At first glance lacrosse may look like a glamorous sport, but the men's game especially can be very rough, so much that it is known as the `the fastest combative ball game on earth'. Our counterpart teams in the league are all of comparable strength so we can look forward to some good games. We thank you for your continued support and hope that with your support we can move closer to victory.
The men's and women's matches are as scheduled below. Please come along as see the games to be held at the APU Main Ground with its commanding view of Beppu Bay.
