The LSB Uchinari Walking Tour has been recognized by the Beppu City Tourism Association and included in their Beppu City "Hatto Walks". This is the first such recognition of a walking tour run by student-guides and has been listed in Beppu City Tourism Association pamphlets. The Uchinari Walking Tour is held every month LSB – a research group working to establish a long-term tourism style in the countryside of Beppu City and promote regional development.
The Beppu City "Hatto Walks" are run by local volunteer guides to provide users with a different perspective from the professional tour guides, and take tourists away from the tourist spots to offer walkers a glimpse into the sights that only the locals know about.
The LSB Research Group currently manages a long term accommodation house in the Uchinari area and has been running the Uchinari Walking Tours every month to introduce people to the sights and charms of this part of Beppu. The development, planning and guiding of these walking tours is managed by students in cooperation with members of the local community. The Uchinari Walking Tour was officially recognized at the Beppu Hatto Council held in April.
Student in charge of the Uchinari Walking Tours, NAKAMURA Keichi (APS4, Japan), spoke of his aspirations for the future, "I believe its thanks to the support and cooperation we have received from the local community that the Uchinari Walks have received this recognition. We will continue to work to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to experience the beauty of Uchinari".
The Uchinari Walks are held on the 4th Friday of every month. We invite you to come along and enjoy the local hospitality, some home-made food, hot springs, and much more.
