Dec 7, 2010

On Sunday, October 10, 2010, APU student YANO Shohei (APM1, Japan) placed runner-up at the 4th All-Japan College Student Tae Kwon Do Tournament, 74kg men's division. Hosted by the All Japan Tae Kwon Do Association, the event was held at the Hyogo Prefectural Budokan. A total of 2 members of the APU Taekwondo circle competed in this tournament.
Mr. YANO progressed through to the final without trouble but went down in the final bout to Mr. SHIMA of Daito Bunka University. Looking back on the event, YANO displayed his joy at clinching the runner-up spot and his aspirations for the future, "Going up against a Tae Kwon Do fighter from Daito Bunka University has been a great experience for me. I hope to build on this experience and continue to train hard to post more great results in the future".

Established in 2000, members of the APU Taekwondo circle currently practice twice a week and come from a range of countries including Indonesia, Korea, Costa Rica, Japan and Vietnam. In addition to exhibition performances at the 2010 Korean Week, the circle is also active both locally and outside Oita Prefecture and has achieved some great results. We look forward to more success in the future from the APU Taekwondo circle.
