On Friday, February 10, 2023, at JR Beppu Station’s tourism information center, Tourist Hub & Lounge Wander Compass, a report presentation was held for three APU students who were long-term interns at this information center. In this internship program, students learned practically through the development of new tourist model routes with the aim of developing Beppu's tourism human resources. It was conducted for six months starting September 2022.

By working at a tourist information center as concierges and guides for foreign tourists, the students learned about Beppu from various angles and worked to analyze customer needs. At the presentation to report the results, each participant set a theme and proposed a new sightseeing model route based on the experience gained through their work at the tourist information center.

Executive Director of B-biz LINK, an association that operates Wonder Compass Beppu, said, "People living in the city create tourism, convey its charm, and develop it as an industry. Sustainable tourism cannot be achieved without these three things. The tourist model routes proposed through this internship was based on these points and being able to develop them in collaboration with all the APU students was important.”
