On Wednesday, March 31, 2010, the Spring Semester AP House Welcome Ceremony was held at the Millennium Hall. The Ceremony welcomed over 500 new residents from 60 countries and regions, with 63 AP House Resident Assistants (RAs) also in attendance.
The ceremony was coordinated by RAs and began with a few words from the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor KIM Chan Hoe. Professor KIM encouraged the new residents to make their time at AP House as fruitful as possible, "Living in a university dormitory like AP House is a rare opportunity, so please make lots of new friends and memories during your time here."
This was followed by a speech from KOYAMA Kenji (APS1, Japan), who represented the new AP House residents and spoke of his expectations for life in the dormitory, "I hope to make many new friends during my stay here and I’m sure that sharing our happiness and sadness is the best way to get to know each other better".
RA representative FUKAO Yoshihiro (APM3, Japan), then made a short speech reminding the new students of their duties and responsibilities as house residents. A video was then shown illustrating the manners and etiquette residents should adhere to ensure that everyone enjoys their dormitory life.
The new enrollees were then taken to Cafeteria where they enjoyed a "Welcome Dinner" featuring the musical talents and dance skills of the student group "Yosshakoi". During the dinner, the RAs introduced themselves and pledged to do their upmost to support the new residents before bringing the proceedings to an end.
