Response to Microsoft 365 Security Alert
If you receive an email titled “Request to confirmation on security detection of Microsoft 365/Microsoft 365のセキュリティ検知について確認のお願い”, please carry out the following five steps:
1. Change APU User ID Password
Sign in with your APU User ID and current password, then change your password.
※Password change acceptance hours: 9:00-22:00 (Japan Standard Time)
※If changing your password from outside the university, please sign in with your APU email address.
2. Check Your Multi-Factor Authentication Settings
Sign in with your APU email address and check that only the authentication methods you registered yourself are set in the “security information”.
3. Check your APU Email Settings
Sign in with your APU email address and confirm that there are no unfamiliar or suspicious settings in your mail system.
4. Review Your Sign-in Records
Sign in with your APU email address and verify that there are no records of suspicious sign-ins.

Examples of suspicious sign-ins:
- Sign-ins from multiple countries’ IP addresses within a short period.
- Sign-ins from devices you have never used before.
5. Run Virus Scans on PCs, Smartphones, and Other Devices
Please perform a virus scan on your PC, smartphone, and other devices.
After checking the above, if any of the following apply, please report them to the Information Systems Administrative Office.
- Unknown authentication settings were found.
- Suspicious email settings were found.
- Unknown sign-ins were detected.
- Malware or other threats were detected.
※If you have registered your APU email address with external services, please also change the passwords for those services.
※Never use the same password as your APU User ID password for external services.
