Many new students at APU want to develop the necessary skills to be proactive within an international society. Off-campus Study Programs are specially designed for students to challenge themselves and learn in an intercultural environment.
APU offers a variety of off-campus study programs in addition to long-term overseas exchange, and many students participate in Off-campus Study Programs from their first year. While students may sometimes encounter difficulties, they all rise up to the challenge and use the opportunity to set goals for their four years at APU.
Overseas travel has gradually become normal again, so we will hold the FIRST Program overseas for the first time in four years! The FIRST Program is a wildly popular program, which half of domestic new students used to participate in.
Now, we would like introduce a few programs we recommend for new students. We encourage you to challenge yourself and get a head start on your four years!

This program aims for students to take a deeper interest in cultural exchange with people who have different cultures and speak different languages by conducting intercultural surveys as a group. This program will help students develop the necessary abilities to make the most of their life on APU’s international campus. Fieldwork for FIRST 2023 Spring will be in South Korea.

Credits: 2 (2023 Spring Semester)
Target Participants: 1st and 2nd Domestic Students, Japanese-basis students or international students who have completed the Japanese Pre-advanced Course.
Recommended for students who want to:
This program aims for participants to understand the cultural diversity of Southeast Asia through research activities over a period of approximately 10 days. The program is a more advanced version of FIRST, requiring the use of both English and Japanese from the pre-program classes to the field research activities.
