At Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), approximately half of our 6,000 students are international students from 80 countries and regions around the globe. This remarkable diversity makes us unlike any university in the world. "APU Graduates possess the power to change our world." This is the core concept upon which we leverage our multicultural environment to cultivate people who can overcome conflict and friction through dialogue and negotiation, instead of violence. Many of our graduates go onto work in companies and government agencies all over the world.
Learning that makes use of our multicultural campus not only benefits our students, it can be applied to a range of social and business situations in our increasingly globalized world. For the past several years, APU has been operating programs that utilize our multicultural environment for the training of businesspersons, and every year, more companies are adopting these programs.
More companies need so-called global human resources, that is, talented individuals who can adapt to other cultures. They are no longer able to keep up with the competition just by hiring fresh graduates with advanced language skills, and they face a host of other obstacles, such as how to expand globally with a so-called “inward-looking” workforce and how to hire staff overseas.
This event, the APU Global Human Resources Development Seminar: The APU Experience for Businesspersons, will allow businesspersons to experience first-hand what it is like to learn at APU. A lecture entitled "Global CSR and Asian CSR" will be given in English. This lecture incorporates business case studies and discussion and will offer participants an interactive learning experience. A pay-your-own-way networking party will be held after the lecture.
