With a 50-50 student body of domestic* and international students, APU, since its inception, has employed a dual enrollment system that allows students to enroll in either the spring or fall. This system was introduced to accommodate international academic calendars. On September 25, 2015, APU welcomes about 600 new students at “The Fall 2015 Entrance Ceremony” held at the B-Con Plaza, Beppu City.
At APU, with students who come from all over the globe, new students will gain a host of invaluable experiences which raise mutual understanding through dialogue. In this multicultural environment, they will learn to discover the common values required to respect and coexist with others, which is the foundation for developing a global mindset.
It will be a day of celebration to mark the beginning of our new students’ lives in Beppu, Japan. Current students will also join in the celebrations and take part in a range of performances during the ceremony including traditional Indonesian dance, Chinese dragon dance and traditional Japanese drums.
In order to assure that parents, family members and well-wishers around the world who cannot attend the ceremony in person are able to watch the event, live footage of the ceremony will be also available on the internet via Ustream (being August 1, 2018, playback via Ustream is no longer available).
*The term "domestic students" includes international students with non-Japanese nationality possessing residential status in Japan other than "college student". The term "international students" denotes those students who possess a "college student” visa.
