I wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to all of those affected by the damage and devastation brought on by the recent earthquakes across the island of Kyushu, and we hope for a speedy recovery.
Even here in Beppu we continue to feel occasional aftershocks. All of us at APU remain vigilant in our concern for the safety and security of our students.
We have made the decision to extend our class cancellation until Friday, April 22. Classes will resume on Monday, April 25. Essential services as well as the buildings on campus h ave not suffered any significant damage through these successive earthquakes. While things have mostly returned to normal on campus, we have made this decision out of concern for the number of students who have sheltered in earthquake relief centers as well as those who have sought refuge outside of Oita Prefecture.
Addressing the challenges facing our students continues to be a priority for us. The entire staff and faculty at APU are making every effort so that our students may return to lif e as normal. More than ever, we ask for your continued support.
