What is Table for Two International (TFT)?
TFT is a non-profit organization established in Japan in 2007 with the goal of resolving the world’s food scarcity problems. When people eat a TFT-eligible item off of a menu at a restaurant, or purchase an item at a grocery store that endorses the organization’s activities, a donation of 20 yen is made per dish or product. TFT then uses those funds to provide school lunches to children in developing countries. Twenty yen is how much it costs for a single school lunch in some countries. As a student chapter of TFT, APU×TFT develops and proposes TFT-eligible menu items to be sold in the on-campus cafeteria, among other activities. Armed with the desire to have more people become familiar with issues surrounding food in the world, APU×TFT recently held three events.
