Mr. Jeffrey L. S. Koo Joining the APU Advisory Committee

A delegation lead by the Chairman of the Ritsumeikan Trust, Mr. KAWAMOTO Hachiro and APU's Vice-President Mr. NISHIDA Muneaki visited Taiwan from July 1st to July 3rd. At present, APU has the largest number of Taiwanese students amongst the universities in Japan, with 144 enrollees taking an active role in their respective academic and extracurricular endeavors. The purpose of this visit was to further strengthen the friendship and exchange between Taiwan and the Ritsumeikan Trust, and the delegation held discussions with leaders in various sectors such as education and economy.During the recent visit, the delegation was able to discuss with the business leader representative of Taiwan and the Asia Region, Mr. Jeffrey L. S. Koo. And during the discussion, Chairman KAWAMOTO invited Mr. Koo to join APU's Advisory Committee, and received a favorable response from him. Mr. Jeffrey L. S. Koo currently assumes numerous key positions including serving as the Chairman and CEO of Chinatrust Group, the Board Chairman of Chinatrust Financial Holding Co., Ltd, the Senior Advisor to the President of Taiwan and the Chairman of Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association.

The delegation also met with other prominent figures such as the Minister of Education Mr. TU Cheng Sheng (former curator of the National Palace Museum) and the head of the Interchange Association (Japan), Mr. UCHIDA Katsuhisa.

Chairman KAWAMOTO delivered a lecture on "What Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University was Established for - Human Resource Development for the Asia Pacific Region -" to approximately 120 affiliated members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Taipei at a hotel in Taipei City.
