Student Participation at Local Exchange Event

Sep 2, 2005

On Saturday 27 August, 8 international APU students attended the 34th Oita Prefecture High School UNESCO Conference in Yufuin organised by the Oita Prefecture UNESCO Federation. The conference was held to foster the qualities necessary to live alongside the different peoples of this world who hail from diverse cultures and customs. The students, from India, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Nepal and Korea, were split into groups of 8 high school students. The APU students spoke about what made them decide to study abroad and their dreams for the future. The students also discussed the societal and educational environment in their home countries and took questions from the students. Both groups of students were able to further acquaint themselves with each other through games and other activities.

APU student Hak Lyda from Cambodia (APS 4th year) expressed his thoughts on the event: "I have participated in other local exchange event, but this was the first time I had been to a UNESCO Club event. I will be graduating soon however, I still want to keep up my active involvement in local exchange events".

Be sure to see the highlights from the event on OAB's Nandemo Oita Kenbun Roku on Saturday 10 September at 7:30 am.

APU has a range of local exchange events on offer. For more details please click here.
