On Monday, June 18, 2012, a signing ceremony was held to mark the agreement reached between APU and Hangzhou Foreign Languages High School to continue the APU Pre-Enrollment Course originally launched in April, 2009.
In attendance at the ceremony were APU President KORENAGA Shun, Hangzhou Foreign Languages High School Vice-President, Xia Guming; Secretariat, Guo Zhaoliang; and Head of the International Department, Shen Yonglong. Everyone in attendance reaffirmed their commitment to the further development of the project.
Hangzhou Foreign Languages High School is one of the top high schools in China and many of its graduates continue their studies at top universities around the world. With the conclusion of the APU Pre-Enrollment Course in April 2009, students studying at Hangzhou Foreign Languages High School who have completed their second senior year (June) and who wish to enter APU are able to begin preparatory classes in September the same year.
The first students on this program entered APU in 2010 and have since become outstanding members of the APU community and active contributors to the academic and extracurricular aspects of the University including Multicultural Weeks and international exchange projects with the local community.
Hangzhou Foreign Languages High School Vice-President, Xia Guming, commented that “APU is one of the most international universities in Japan and I feel that the educational philosophy of APU matches the kind of graduates we aim to develop here at the Hangzhou Foreign Languages High School”.
Hangzhou Foreign Languages High School is the highest producer of entrants to APU. The signing of this agreement serves to reaffirm the two parties’ commitment to the further development of the program.
