On Saturday, June 8, 2024, a press conference was held at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, announcing the appointments of Runa Wakasa as the Future Visionary Vice President for High School Students and Ashmi Jha (College of International Management, India) as the Future Visionary Vice President for Current Students. Additionally, eight Summit Members who will support the Future Visionary Vice Presidents were also announced.
Each Future Visionary Vice President and Summit Member is a highly motivated student dedicated to identifying and addressing future educational challenges. They will undertake roles focused on extracting issues and shaping visions for the university. Through this initiative, the university hopes to draft and implement new policies based on unique ideas and perspectives, and to actively engage stakeholders in driving reforms.
Runa Wakasa, the Future Visionary Vice President for High School Students, expressed her ambition: "I aim to create a creative team where everyone acts as a leader and shares their opinions. Together, we will strive to 'Leap Beyond Global'." Ashmi Jha, the Future Visionary Vice President for Current Students, shared her thoughts: "This initiative, which emphasizes the values of cooperation, co-creation, and coexistence, is a significant first step towards great achievements. Let's build a future we can all be proud of with our own hands."
On the day of the appointment announcement, as part of team building, discussions and presentations were held under the theme "What We Want to Achieve in One Year." The high school Future Visionary Vice President and Summit Members expressed their desire to engage in dialogues over the year to create a better society beyond just changes within APU. The current student Future Visionary Vice President and Summit Members highlighted APU's social responsibility, stating their goal to establish a research culture within the university and to introduce initiatives that promote multidimensional diversity, engaging all generations beyond the current multicultural environment. They expressed a strong commitment to change the world together with everyone involved with APU.
