PhD Student to Present Paper at Government Sponsored Seminar in Mallorca

APU doctoral student Patricia J Cooper's (GSAD, Australia) paper and poster titled, "HOT SPRINGS. Examples of natural springs, spas and wellness facilities through time" has been selected among the top three papers and posters for the 2500 Euro Award.The Competition is part of the "Innovation and Tourism International Seminar" to be held in Mallorca between September 27-29 and is sponsored by the General Directorate of Research, Technological Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Innovation from the Balearic Islands Government.

The "Call for Papers and Posters" was launched internationally to showcase actual and innovative areas of tourism explored at an international level amongst entrepreneurs, professionals and the academic and scientific community.

Pre-doctorate researchers and post-graduate students were invited to submit papers and posters on the seminar theme, "Innovation and Wellness Tourism" or on one of the following seven seminar session topics – 1) Tourism and Quality of Life, 2) Recreational Waters and Health, 3) WELLNESS: Changing Lifestyle Patterns, 4) Wellness Centre Management, 5) Preventative Measures and Longevity, 6) Nutritional Aspects and Health for the Tourism Market or 7) Promoting Wellness in Tourism Destinations.

The authors of the three awarded posters, hailing from Germany, Spain and Japan, have been invited to attend the prestigious seminar in Mallorca where they will deliver a 15 minute presentation based on their submissions and receive questions from the public. Their airfares and hotel accommodation throughout the conference will be covered by the hosts. The winner of the best Paper and Poster presentation will be awarded 2,500 euros.
