Fukuoka-Dalian Future Project - Dalian Secondary School Students Visit Japan

Oct 4, 2006

Thirty secondary school students from Dalian have come to experience Japan as part of The People's Broadcasting Station Dalian-China 60th Anniversary celebrations. The main purpose of this project is to ensure the relationship between the two countries continues to prosper in the future. This project based in the Fukuoka-Kyushu area includes various exchange activities in regional areas, allowing participants to experience and learn about the local environment, life and culture and state-of-the-art technology. On October 2, 2006 (the first day) at APU, a welcome party was held where APU students had dinner together with the visiting guests. At the party APU students performed a traditional dance from Iwate Prefecture called "Nanabumai". The party had a great atmosphere with the visitors enjoying conversations with our current International students. The next day involved explanation of APU's outline and campus tours carried out by APU students. Again the visitors thoroughly enjoyed this inter-cultural exchange experience with the International students.

After being given the chance to experience the "real" Japan, and also talk to students from all over the world, the students from Dalian felt that the gap between China, Japan and the world is much smaller than they had originally thought. It is hoped that the participants will continue to promote the relationship between the two countries in the future. The People's Broadcasting Station Dalian-China has acted as bridge between Japan and China by carrying out this project. Through their efforts it is hoped that friendly relations between the two nations will continue to grow from strength to strength.
