Paying AP House Fees

1. Paying moving in fees
  • Transfer the amount stated on the invoice to the bank designated university bank account by the deadline.
  • All residents are asked to pay for AP House fees in Japanese yen.
If a resident cannot pay in Japanese yen, the University will accept the equivalent payment in U.S. dollars. However, there are cases where the exchange rate changes between the time of payment and the time it is received into APU's account. If the amount paid is insufficient, the difference between the amount invoiced and the amount received will be added to the next invoice from APU.
2. Paying fees after moving in
  • On the first of every month, the monthly rent will be withdrawn from the JP Bank account the student registered with the University.
  • If the withdrawal cannot be made due to insufficient funds, the next withdrawal will occur on the 16th. If this day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, the withdrawal will occur on the next bank business day.
  • If the second withdrawal also fails, the resident must transfer the money by themselves and pay the transfer fee. Please check how to arrange for a bank transfer at an ATM.
  • If a resident fails to pay their AP House fees for two or more months, the resident will be asked to leave AP House.
  • The University does not accept cash payments.
  • After moving in, international students should attend a guidance session on opening a JP Bank account in Japan and set up an automatic withdrawal arrangement for AP House fees.
  • Residents are asked to have enough money in their account to ensure they will be able to pay their fees even when they will be gone for long vacations.

Paying moving out fees

1. Deciding when to move out

The University will determine when the resident will move out based on the information provided on their ‘Request for Moving Out' form.
It is not possible to prorate (calculate on a daily basis) your Dormitory Fees.

2. Repair Costs

When a resident leaves the dorms, there will be an inspection. Some stains and damages inevitably occur in the course of daily life. The resident is not liable for these inevitable damages, but if there are greater damages such as a broken door, holes in the wall or the smell of tobacco the resident will be billed for those costs.
For example, replacing wallpaper due to the smell of tobacco is 90,000 yen.

3. Calculating the Security Deposit

Any unpaid AP House fees, as well as costs to repair any damages due to resident negligence, will be calculated and the total will be deducted from the resident's security deposit. The remaining balance, if any, will be transferred to the JP Bank account the student registered with the University.
Residents may be able to arrange a refund to an overseas account.

〈Residents who wish to receive their refund by overseas remittance〉

  • A transaction charge of 4,250 yen will be deducted.
  • Submit your account information to Creotech by email.
