You are nailing this APU Multiplayer Game until a packed 9 AM to 8 PM schedule forces you to figure out how to eat during 10-minute breaks. Only then, one of the most predictable yet easily overlooked systems reveals itself: the on-campus Food Map.
Located at the very center of the campus, this is most APU students’ go-to place when it comes to fulfilling meals. The Cafeteria offers well-balanced, nutritional meals that best fit your dietary needs. Options range from everyday dishes to specialties from different countries, such as Thai curry or Tandoori chicken, and even cover niches such as vegan, vegetarian, and Halal food.
Besides what was listed above, here are some other perks of eating at the Cafeteria:
- A hearty bowl of rice, a miso soup and 3 side dishes for breakfast? All with just one ¥100 coin.
- Never repeat the same meal for lunch. There are different types of rice dishes, noodles, curry, and they even offer ¥100 salad bar!
- No need to think of what to eat after late classes; the Cafeteria is open until 20:00 during the semester!
However, you may want to avoid the “rush hour” time between 12:00 and 13:00 as students will flood the place for their lunches. To become a pro-player at this, arrive there slightly earlier or later. For the most up-to-date information on the new menu, operating hours, membership and events, this website will be your best friend.
Connected to the bus stop “Tokimachiba,” Lawson is the first place that many students head to after commuting from downtown. With options such as rice balls, sandwiches, bread and snacks, this on-campus convenience store offers a much quicker meal compared to the Cafeteria, so for students who have short breaks or are rushing to classes, Lawson is the real savior.
APU Co-op acts more like a mini supermarket in which students can also find class textbooks, school merch, and transport tickets. There is no need for students who are living in AP Houses to travel downtown, as cooking ingredients and kitchen supplies are also available there.
Believe it or not, not many people mention the food trucks and food stalls around the campus with this name, but yes, that’s what it is.
Have you ever thought to yourself that you will buy some crepes from that one specific food truck tomorrow, and then realized that they are nowhere to be found the next day? The reason is that each vendor has their own schedule, which is something you can always check in advance via this page.
With three main locations: Around the fountain, the atrium of F building, and in front of AP House 1, students can satisfy their cravings for carbs with gapao rice and Sri Lanka wraps, desserts with crepes and croffles, or fast-food items such as hotdogs, burgers, and sandwiches. However, the most welcomed vendor has always been Karaage Miyabi, which sells the crispiest cheese-stuffed fried chicken that is worth every single minute waiting in long lines of students.
So, on days that you have a little free time to explore around and taste test new foods, don’t hesitate to give these trucks and stalls a try!
Knowing the food map like the back of your hand is quite an impossible job, as the menu, the price, or sometimes even the locations may change. Spare yourself some time to explore different options and choose the best route. As a part of the APU Multiplayer Game, do not forget that you can always reach out to others for recommendations.
Neither of the systems I introduced comes with a manual for you to read in advance. They come from times you chat with campus staff, random complaints you make with your friends, or even from our own experience of missed buses and starving afternoons.
Feel free to make use of this series: a small gift from a senpai/fellow player to you.
Hi guys! I'm Thanh (or Trish), a fifth-semester APS student from Vietnam. My love for Vietnamese poems and literature gave rise to my current passion for writing.
