On Friday, September 16, 2016, approximately 500 students will receive their diplomas at the APU Graduation Ceremony, leaving behind the multicultural campus where they studied with students from 85 countries and regions.
Since opening in April 2000, APU has graduated about 14,300 students from its undergraduate colleges and graduate schools. This year's cohort of graduates, like those that came before them, will step out into the world and go on to play active roles in a wide range of fields as individuals who can create new value, having learned to respect others’ differences, cultural and otherwise, and to cooperate with others.
APU graduation ceremonies are always a uniquely multicultural event bringing together students, parents and well-wishers from all over Japan and the around the world to Beppu. You can see a colorful display of red graduation gowns and traditional costumes from around the globe.
Almost 50% of APU students are international and have travelled to Beppu from the four corners of the earth. For many parents and caregivers of international students, travelling to Japan to attend the ceremony is just not practical. To ensure that no one misses out on witnessing their daughters or sons graduate, APU has been Ustreaming (being August 1, 2018, playback via Ustream is no longer available) live footage of this and other events on the internet. Be sure to join us to recognize the achievements and hard work of our soon-to-be-graduates, either in-person or online. Footage and photos of the ceremony will also be available on the FAFA website. These photos and images should help you to enjoy the ceremony even if you cannot attend in person.
