One of the highlights of the APU event calendar is Multicultural Weeks. During each week, the language, customs and lifestyle of one of the many countries and regions represented on campus are introduced through a range of colorful events arranged by APU students. Held every year in the spring and fall (May-July, November-January), a delicious array of traditional dishes is available on the cafeteria menu in addition to traditional dance and music performances held throughout the campus and the Grand Show held on the final day of each week.
Hello everyone! We are Yumiko and Muhammad, the student leaders of this year’s APU Fashion Week (AFW). This is the fourth time that we are holding AFW; each year Fashion Week has its own unique style. Our mission is to promote camaraderie amongst multicultural students and appreciate contemporary arts through fashion and music. Through our events, we wish young students to develop confidence and self-esteem, along with respect for individuality with APU as a center for understanding internationalization in Beppu, Oita, and Japan. We aim to encourage students to explore their own creativity through fashion (makeup, fashion design, photography). Over the years we have featured student fashion designers and they are mentored by world-renowned professional designers. Moreover, we promote positive body image, meaning that beauty is in all colors, shapes, sizes, and ages. We have activities and personality development such as photo shoots, video shoots, make-up lessons, walking, and many more fun activities to bring together domestic and international students. Come watch our grand show on December 1. We have been holding events in downtown Beppu and academic lectures in school but all these culminate in the grand fashion show. See you!
