Initiatives for unharvested crops
In collaboration with Nakatsu City and Ajinomoto.Co.Ltd, Morinoebi works toward solving Nakatsu City’s issue of unharvested crops caused by an aging society and labor shortage. The goal of this project is to raise consumer awareness of food crises, using the keywords “food loss” and “local food.” Morinoebi, along with recruited participants, took bamboo shoots that were growing wildly and commercialized them as processed foods. The following month, their products were sold at Tokiwa and other stores. The wide variety of crops left unharvested throughout the country can not only be used as a countermeasure against food problems, but also to conserve natural habitats, such as forests.
