What is APU Community Garden?
APU Community Garden is a project that aims to provide an easily accessible space for all students to learn about organic farming, flower planting, and green curtains through hands-on experience and lectures. Planters will be set up on the APU campus to grow vegetables and flowers using organic fertilizers while utilizing local waste materials. Ultimately, this project aims to increase collaboration with the local community, organic farmers, professors, and different circles at APU, to contribute to the circular economy of Oita, and increase student involvement and awareness in addressing environmental issues. The core members, consisting of international and domestic students, have learned a lot from their internship at an organic farmer’s market in Oita as well as through their relationships with the local community. We expect that through this project, more APU students will become aware of the significance of this initiative.
