A feature that makes APU stand out from other Japanese universities is our flexible entrance and graduation system that allows students to graduate in either the fall or spring. On March 15 we held our Spring Graduation Ceremony for 2013. On this day of celebration and congratulation, 719 students from 23 countries and regions marked the end of their time at APU. With the capping of APU’s 10,327th graduate, the University also celebrated the milestone of having produced over 10,000 graduates, including undergrad and grad schools, since the University first opened.
APU graduation ceremonies are always a uniquely multicultural event bringing together students, parents and well-wishers from all over Japan and the around the world to Beppu in a colorful display of graduation gowns, Japanese kimono, and other traditional costumes. 2013will be no exception.
Almost 50% of APU students are international and have travelled to Beppu from all the four corners of the earth. For many parents and caregivers of international students, travelling to Japan to attend the ceremony is just not practical. To ensure that no one misses out on witnessing their daughter or son graduate, since 2011 APU has been Ustreaming live footage of this and other events on the internet. Be sure to join us recognize the achievements and hard work of our soon-to-be-graduates, either in-person or online. Footage of the March 15 ceremony is now available. Photos taken during the ceremony are also available on the “For APU Students, From APU Students” website. These photos and images should help you to enjoy the ceremony even if you could not attend in person.
