On Wednesday, November 13, 2013, Ahmet C. Bozer, the Executive Vice President of the Coca-Cola Company and President of Coca-Cola International, came to APU with Yoshimatsu Tamio, the President and Representative Director for Coca-Cola West Co., Ltd., to give a special lecture entitled "Leadership in Coca-Cola's Japanese and Global Businesses". The approximately 700 students packed into the Millennium Hall listened intently to the lecture.
Speaking from his wealth of international experience, Mr. Bozer told the APU students that "Global leaders must always be interested in what's happening in the world. It is also important to know what services you can provide as a professional and to improve your own value." He also touched on the social responsibility of global companies by saying, "Decisions are made with integrity. They must be good for you, good for the company and good for the society."
When one student asked what someone should do to become a strong leader, Mr. Yoshimatsu responded: "You must have big, well-thought-out goals and you must share them with everyone. Getting people to agree with you requires passionate debate with the people on the front lines and heartfelt communication."
During the question-and-answer session, students asked so many questions the lecture went over the scheduled time limit; the talk ended with a hearty round of applause.
