What i sthe JASSO Scholarship?
The JASSO Scholarship is a scholarship provided by the Japanese government as a means to offer support to excellent domestic students in need of financial assistance either in the form of a loan or grant.
Types of JASSO Scholarships
【Grant-Type】Grant-Type (JASSO Official Website)
This is a scholarship which doesn't need to be paid back offered as part of the Japanese government’s New System for Higher Education Aid.
- *Students selected for this scholarship will undergo an annual Assessment for Continuation to check if they satisfy the financial aid and academic criteria. Your scholarship will be suspended or terminated if you do not satisfy the criteria.
- *Students may be asked to return the scholarship money if your academic results are exceedingly lower than the criteria.

Tuition and other fees will be reduced according to the support category determined based on JASSO screening.

Unlike the Grant-Type Scholarship, Loan-Type Scholarship recipients are obligated to pay back the scholarship money.
Before you apply, please think about how necessary it is for you to receive this scholarship in light of your financial situation, life plan, and how much you will need to return after graduation.
There are two types: the interest-free Type I Scholarship and the interest-bearing Type II Scholarship.Receiving both Type I and Type II Scholarships simultaneously is called combined lending.
