Bangladeshi Resort “A Window to the World from APU"

A beautiful natural coastline stretching 125 kilometers

When comparing the flags of various countries, the Bangladeshi flag likely stands out immediately. It's said to be a country very friendly to Japan, with a flag inspired by Japan's national flag (commonly called “Hinomaru”)

I became interested in Bangladesh during the Bangladeshi Week of APU's "Multicultural Week" event. I talked to Imam, who always greets me with a smile, about Cox's Bazar in the southeastern part of the country.

Cox's Bazar, famous for its beautiful natural beaches, stretches 125 kilometers

Cox's Bazar, with its coastline stretching 125 kilometers, is often referred to as the "longest beach in the world." This beautiful natural coast is famous as a tourist destination and loved by locals. Imam mentioned, "The sunset views offer a different charm compared to Beppu Bay."

This city is currently attracting worldwide attention as a refugee camp for people from Myanmar. The camp has grown to house over 900,000 people, and the bamboo houses built there face issues such as fires and floods during the rainy season due to strong winds and rain.

There are also refugee centers. If I have the opportunity to visit Bangladesh, I want to do not only sightseeing but also experience these international issues firsthand.
