The TEDxAPU 2025 event will feature the Student Speaker League (SSL) on December 12, where students will have the opportunity to listen to speakers, including student speakers selected in April 2025. With the SSL event approaching, I would like to introduce TEDxAPU while reflecting on this year’s event, in which I participated as a member of the organizing team.
Have you heard about the TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) conference? It is a platform where experts present diverse topics, ranging from local to global issues, driven by a passion they wish to share with the audience to inform or inspire. A TEDx event is part of the official TED initiative: “Ideas Worth Spreading.” TEDx events are independently organized in smaller communities under specific rules and standards set by TED. TEDxAPU is the official TEDx talk at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University.
This year’s TEDxAPU showcased an incredible lineup of speakers, including a student who shared their belief in the uniqueness and power of individuals.
The event was led by TEDxAPU heads Sawhney Amreen Kaur and Bryan Malvino Inkiriwang, who aimed to provide students with diverse ideas and insights beyond traditional classroom learning. Recognizing TEDx as the perfect platform for this goal, they overcame the challenge of managing a team of over 100 members spanning 20 nationalities. Their greatest reward was fostering a close-knit community that became a second home for its members. Key lessons included fundraising and collaborating with media outlets and local partners in Japan while maintaining global inclusivity for speakers.
I am proud to have been part of this incredible team of APU students who dedicated their time to organizing this conference while balancing school, extracurricular activities, and part-time jobs. As an official member of the TEDxAPU events team, I worked alongside others to ensure the event ran smoothly.
Organizing an event like this comes with its challenges, but that’s precisely what makes being part of the team so rewarding. This time, I’ve shared a behind-the-scenes look at TEDxAPU. Please stay tuned for our next event, TEDxAPU 2025!
