Upon enrollment, many APU students wish to develop skills to be active in the international society. Off-campus Study Programs are especially designed for such students to challenge themselves to learn in an intercultural environment.

Many students participate in an Off-campus Study Program from their first year. And while sometimes they may encounter difficulties, they all rise up to the challenge and set goals for their 4 years at APU. Due to the novel coronavirus, students currently cannot travel overseas. However, APU is conducting 3 programs that connects the campus with the rest of the world. We encourage you to challenge yourself and get a head start on your 4 years!
Recommended for students who:
This program aims to have students acquire interest in exchanging with people from around the world with different cultures and languages through inter-cultural surveying group activities. The program aims to have students develop abilities to make the most of their life on APU’s international campus.

Language: Japanese
Period: 2021 Spring Semester 1st Quarter, Quarter Break
Credits: 2 (2021 Spring Semester)
Target Participants: 1st and 2nd Domestic Students, Japanese-basis students or international students who have completed Japanese Intermediate Course.
Recommended for students who:
Students will deepen their understanding about world problems and seek solutions listening to lectures by faculty members and guest speakers, and engaging in group work with students from overseas partner universities.

Credit: 2 (2021 Spring Semester)
Target Participants: 1st and 2nd Semester Domestic/International Students
*Japanese-basis students are encouraged to be at the level of Pre-Intermediate English or above
Recommended for students who:
A program that focuses on techniques for taking IELTS while incorporating interactive learning with students from overseas partner universities to improve English proficiency and provide opportunities for early completion of compulsory English course subjects.

Period: AY 2021 Spring Semester (including summer break)
Credits: 4 (2021 Spring Semester)
Target Participants: Japanese-basis students who enrolled after AY 2020 Fall Semester and who will take Pre-Intermediate English or Intermediate English in AY 2021 Spring Semester.
*Due to the program periods, BOOST Program cannot be taken simultaneously with FIRST or APU GLAD.

All programs are also available to AY 2020 Fall enrollees who have not yet taken the relevant subjects. Students may participate in both FIRST and APU GLAD. However as there are many assignments, please plan carefully before applying.
