What is Shape Your Life?

Shape Your Life is an online platform created by an APU student from Indonesia to promote study abroad in her home country, where information about studying abroad and relevant scholarships is scarce. The platform aims to disseminate information about studying overseas and create more chances for students to broaden their horizons.

An Initiative to Overcome the Barrier to Studying Abroad

First and foremost, Shape Your Life is a program aimed at Indonesian high school students to dispel the misconception that studying overseas is out of their reach and encourage them to seek out the opportunity. Not only does this initiative offer information on studying abroad and financial aid but also provides free online support including sessions with mentors from universities all over the world, webinars with guest speakers, etc. on platforms such as Instagram and YouTube.

WEBINAR 5.0

On September 12, 2021, the group held a web seminar, Leaving The Homeland for Building The Nation, with a guest speaker, APU alumnus, and Vice Governor of East Java, Indonesia, Dr. Emil Dardak. He shared memories from his time at APU as well as spoke on how studying abroad can contribute to one’s own country. A total of 110 participants, which included Indonesian high school students interested in study abroad, joined this webinar. According to participants, this event gave them the courage to take the next step toward their dream of studying abroad.

INTERNATIONAL EDU FAIR

The Virtual International Education Fair was held on December 4th and 5th, 2021 to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the formation of the group. More than 30 Indonesian university students currently studying abroad at 16 different countries participated as speakers. These speakers gave presentations on university life and admission procedures in their respective countries. With 210 participants on the first day and 160 participants on the second day, it was a valuable opportunity to obtain information on applying to overseas universities. Shape your life hopes that more students will courageously take off to study abroad and realize their dreams.
