1.AP House moving-in schedule

For international students residing overseas

<Caution>
All AP House students must confirm that they have completed the university's enrolment procedures and paid the AP House dormitory fee in advance before coming to the AP House.
Please note that if the university cannot confirm that the enrolment procedures and the AP House accommodation fees have been paid in advance when you arrive at the AP House, you will not be permitted to enter the dormitories and will not be able to complete the admission procedures.

Items needed when moving in

  • ID (passport or residence card)
  • Daily necessities
    Toiletries, clothing, footwear (outdoor and indoor), towels, clothes hangers, cooking utensils (if you plan to cook), laundry equipment, thermometer, first-aid kit (home medication [such as cold medicines, fever reducers, and pain relievers], band-aids, wet compresses, etc.)
  • * Detailed information about moving-into the AP House will be announced via email approximately three days before the moving-in date.
  • * Residents will be informed of their room number on the day they move in. Please note that room numbers cannot be provided earlier.

Arrival Assistance Service

The university provides a paid Arrival Assistance Service for new AP House residents to get to AP House from Fukuoka Airport. From this year, this service is also available for domestic students and international students living in Japan.

  • 1.

    The service may not be available if a reservation application is not submitted by the due date.

  • 2.

    It is not acceptable to reserve or take the bus after the final reception time on the day of the reservation.

  • 3.

    Students who arrive at Fukuoka Airport on a domestic flight should use the free shuttle service to get to the International Terminal.

    Please follow the instructions of representatives and staff at Fukuoka airport.

  • 5.

    If you are unable to arrive in time to board the last bus of the day, please either arrange to stay overnight at a hotel close to the airport and board the bus departing to AP House to next day, or travel independently to AP House using public transportation. In this case, you will need to pay for your accommodation and/or transportation expenses.

  • 6.

    Luggage that can be carried on the bus is limited to one suitcase (total dimensions <length + height + width> must be within 158 cm) and one carry-on bag. Please note that it is not possible to accommodate a larger suitcase (more than 158 cm) or two or more suitcases on the bus. Those with excess luggage are asked to arrange delivery to AP House via a prepaid courier service. In this case, you will need to pay for the courier fees.

  • 7.

    If you are arriving at an airport other than Fukuoka Airport, please travel to AP House independently. In this case, you will need to pay for your transportation expenses. For more information on travel to AP House, please check the links below.

The information provided in the registration survey will be used to prepare to welcome new students to the dormitory, etc.

2.Request for enrollment in overseas travel accident insurance

All students (traveling from overseas to Japan) must enroll in overseas travel accident insurance in their home country before traveling to Japan to ensure they can smoothly obtain medical care from Japanese hospitals if they fall ill or are injured after entering Japan. The insurance contract should cover the period from the date of your arrival in Japan until you are enrolled in the National Health Insurance.(Spring enrollees: Until March 31. Fall enrollees: Until September 30.) Please note that, depending on the timing of a hospital visit, you may have to pay high medical fees.

3.Shipping luggage in advance

Students residing in countries or regions other than Japan

Students residing in countries or regions other than Japan are asked to send their luggage after their entry date to Japan is finalized (you will need to pay for postage fees). Students should address their luggage to themselves and send it to their AP House. They should ensure the luggage arrives on or after their moving-in date.

  • (1) Students need to write their application number and name in roman letters.
  • (2) Students can send up to two boxes (total dimensions per box <length + height + width> must be within 120cm).

4.Health Care Requests before moving into AP House

Students who are scheduled to move into AP House should carefully monitor their health leading up to the moving-in date so they are healthy on the day in question.
Students who have a fever or feel unwell should visit a nearby medical facility or contact the APU Health Clinic at booking@apu.ac.jp.

Students who have a fever or feel unwell are asked to postpone their entry into Japan, and enter Japan and move into AP House after they have fully recovered.
Students who are found to have a fever or appear to be unwell on the moving-in date, may not be allowed to enter the dormitory and may be asked to seek accommodation outside of AP House.

5.Entry to AP House of parents, guardians, or other individuals accompanying residents

During the Moving-in period from March 22nd (Sat.) to 24th (Mon.), from 10:00 to 17:00, the lobbies of AP House 1 &2 and the Community Lounge on the 4th floor of AP House 5 will be open to parents and guardians accompanying their students.
However, please note that access to the residential dormitory area is not permitted. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
[Opening hours] 10:00 - 30 minutes after the arrival of the last bus of the Arrival Assistance Service.

*AP House 3 and 4 will not be open to parents, guardians, and other individuals accompanying residents as there is no place for them to wait.
*If you are coming by car, please enter through the main gate of the University and park your car in the visitor parking lot. On the moving-in day, vehicle congestion is expected. Please do not park your car in front of each AP House for long periods of time, as it is a nuisance to other dormitory students.

6.New Student Orientation

Orientations for spring 2025 new enrollees are scheduled to start from Tuesday, March 25th (including a placement test for language courses).
All students are asked to complete the moving-in procedures by Monday, March 24th.
