AP House Moving-in information (for domestic students and international students residing in Japan)

Information on moving-in for those enrolling in September 2024 will be announced on this page in early July.

1. Moving-in schedule

For students in Japan (domestic and international students residing in Japan)

<Caution>
All AP House students must confirm that they have completed the university's enrolment procedures and paid the AP House dormitory fee in advance before coming to the AP House.
Please note that if the university cannot confirm that the enrolment procedures and the AP House accommodation fees have been paid in advance when you arrive at the AP House, you will not be permitted to enter the dormitories and will not be able to complete the admission procedures.

Items needed when moving in

  • Identification (health insurance card or passport)
  • Daily necessities
    Toiletries, clothing, footwear (outdoor and indoor), towels, clothes hangers, cooking utensils (if you plan to cook), laundry equipment (laundry detergent is available), thermometer, first-aid kit (home medication [such as cold medicines, fever reducers, and pain relievers], band-aids, wet compresses, etc.)
  • * Detailed information about moving-into the AP House will be announced via email approximately three days before the moving-in date.
  • * Residents will be informed of their room number on the day they move in. Please note that room numbers cannot be provided earlier. Students who plan to register their move to Beppu City are requested to complete the procedures at the City Hall after the AP House admission procedure.
  • * Because the admission procedure period differs depending on the entrance examination method, the university may inform you of the dormitory building just before the date of moving in.
    Please understand this beforehand.

Moving-in date registration

As soon as you have decided on your move-in date, please register it here.
The information provided in the registration survey will be used to prepare to welcome new students to the dormitory, etc.

* If you wish to change your moving-in date after registering, please resubmit the registration survey

** Domestic students are asked to complete the procedures to withdraw AP House fees from their bank accounts by their moving-in date.

2. Health Care Requests before moving into AP House

Prior to moving in, students are asked to refrain from behaviors and actions that will increase their risk of infection. In addition, students who are scheduled to move into AP House should carefully monitor their health  leading up to the moving-in date, so they are healthy on the day in question.
Students who have a fever or feel unwell, should visit a nearby medical facility or contact the APU Health Clinic at booking@apu.ac.jp.

Students who have a fever or feel unwell are asked to postpone their moving-in date, and move into AP House after they have fully recovered.
Students who are found to have a fever or appear to be unwell on the moving-in date, may not be allowed to enter the dormitory and may be sent home.

3. Shipping luggage

Students in Japan (Domestic and international students residing in Japan)

Students are asked to have their luggage arrive after they move into AP House at a date and time they can receive it from the carrier directly.
If you plan to receive luggage after moving-in, please indicate your room number as well
Information regarding AP House assignments will be announced via email approximately three days before the moving-in date. There are AP Houses 1 to 5.

  • * Because the admission procedure period differs depending on the entrance examination method, the university may inform you of the dormitory building just before the date of moving in.
    Please understand this beforehand.

4. Parents, guardians, or other individuals accompanying residents may not enter AP House

Parents, guardians, and other individuals accompanying residents are welcome to come by car on the premises and help unload luggage, but are prohibited from entering AP House at this time. The University asks for everyone’s understanding and cooperation.

<Regarding the waiting area>
From March 20 (Wed.) to 23 (Sat.), from 10:00 to 17:00 during the Moving-in period, the Community Lounge on the 4th floor of AP House 5 will be open to parents and guardians accompanying their students.
If you are a parent or guardian waiting for a student, please wait in the Community Lounge.
*If you are coming by car, please enter through the main gate of the University and park your car in the visitor parking lot. Vehicle congestion is expected on the moving-in days. Please do not park your car in front of each AP House for long periods of time, as it is a nuisance to other dormitory students.

5. Other

Orientations for spring 2024 new enrollees are scheduled to start from Monday, March 25th. (including a placement test for language courses).
All students are asked to complete the moving-in procedures by Saturday, March 23rd.
