Friendship Agreements with local communities

One of APU's important missions is to contribute to the internationalization and revitalization of local communities. Since the University was first established, APU has entered into friendship exchange agreements with cities and towns throughout Oita Prefecture and with a municipality in Nagano Prefecture. Through these agreements, APU has initiated a range of exchange projects. To date, agreements have been concluded with the following municipalities:

March, 2004 Beppu City Beppu City Community Development Agreement An agreement to promote community development through mutual cooperation and exchange for the i) creation of a community where both residents and visitors can lead active, unique, and rich lives, ii) the development of human resources who can contribute to society, and iii) the invigoration of the local tourism economy.
November, 2004 Oita Prefecture Cooperation and Exchange Agreement between Oita Prefecture, Ritsumeikan Trust and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University An agreement to develop globally-active human resources and contribute to sustainable regional development by enriching education, promoting industry and tourism, and encouraging international exchange.
July, 2005 Iida City, Nagano Prefecture Friendship and Exchange Agreement An agreement to promote sustainable regional development and develop globally-active human resources through friendly mutual exchange.
