To all new students:
Congratulations on your enrollment!
In order to ensure a smooth transition into your studies and life at APU, we will be holding a variety of orientation sessions. All new students are required to attend.

Orientation Period (Tentative): Tue, March 25, 2025 - Fri, April 4, 2025

*The Orientation Schedule may change due to unexpected circumstances.

More information about each guidance session will be available on this webpage no later than March 18.

<Orientation Schedule>

Japanese Placement Test (Mandatory)

In-person Test / Interview
[English-basis Undergraduate Students] Required for all students (1st year and 2nd year transfer students)
[Graduate Students] Only students who want to take Japanese Language Subjects

*All target students must take the online placement test in advance between mid-February and early March. Details will be sent by email in early to mid-February.

English Placement Test (Mandatory)

[Japanese-basis Undergraduate Students] All Students (1st year and 2nd year transfer students)
Things to Bring: Earphones (headsets are recommended), writing tools

*All target students must take the placement test.
*Students will be sent more details about the test, including the test schedule, in early March.

  • Entrance Ceremony
  • On-demand Guidance sessions on Moodle
  • Guidance sessions for a healthy and safe student life, both mentally and physically
  • Guidance sessions on study at APU
  • Introduction to Off-Campus Programs such as exchange programs
  • Guidance on career support
  • Administrative procedures required for international students (address registration, opening a bank account, joining the National Health Insurance, etc.)
  • Course registration
  • Health check-up
  • Various activities and events organized by APU students
  • Introduction of extracurricular activities (clubs), etc.

There will be various other guidance sessions in addition to those listed above.
*Most guidance sessions are mandatory and students are expected to attend them.

The information below will be needed after enrollment so please read before attending the guidance sessions.

<APU Information System>
Please refer to the “BEGINNER'S GUIDE for students” and “On-Demand Guidance Videos” regarding Information Systems and IT support at APU. If you have questions, please ask at the Information System Guidance during the orientation.

<Prepare a laptop>
APU encourages BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) in which students bring their own devices to the university. Since tablets such as iPads and personal smartphones have limitations in the software that can be used with them, we recommend the use of a laptop computer.

<Graduation Requirements>
Graduation requirements are the basic requirements such as credits and years of enrollment necessary to graduate from the college and program in which you enrolled. They vary depending on the year of admission and the college, so please refer to the "Graduation Requirements (College of Asia Pacific Studies, College of International Management, and College of Sustainability and Tourism)" of each college for details. Graduate Students can refer to the “Completion Requirements (Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies: Master Program / Doctoral Program, Graduate School of Management)” of each Graduate School for details.

<Course Registration>
Course registration is the process of registering for classes you will take and is essential for taking classes, earning credits, and graduating. For details on course registration, please refer to the website.

Course Registration Date and Time: Thursday, April 3, 2025, 09:30 - 17:00
You can register for courses at home, in AP House, or anywhere else either on or off campus with an internet connection.
