Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Domestic Student Tuition Reduction Scholarship (For those who are eligible for the JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship)

The Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Domestic Student Tuition Reduction Scholarship is an original APU scholarship that would increase the tuition reduction amount for students selected for the First Category, Second Category, and Third Category of the New System for Higher Education Aid (hereinafter referred to as the JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship) to half of the APU tuition amount.
(*The tuition reduction amount will not increase if the JASSO Tuition Reduction amount exceeds half of the APU tuition amount.)
If you apply for this scholarship, you will automatically be selected for this scholarship if you are selected for the First Category, Second Category, or Third Category of the JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship. If your JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship is suspended/revoked as a result of the annual JASSO Eligibility Screening (Assessment for Continuation), this scholarship will also be suspended/revoked.
Even if your JASSO Tuition Reduction amount changes as a result of the annual JASSO Eligibility Screening (Assessment for Continuation), if you are a recipient of Domestic Student Tuition Reduction Scholarship, the total tuition reduction amount will remain half of the APU tuition amount as long as the scholarship is not suspended/revoked.

2． Tuition Reduction Amount
The amount of financial support provided by the JASSO Grant-type Scholarship is divided into the following categories based on income and asset status. The category is determined by JASSO.

4. Tuition Reduction Method / Timing
- New students are required to pay the full tuition fee for the first semester by the enrollment procedure deadline. If you are selected for a tuition reduction, the reduced amount will be refunded at a later date (for spring semester applications: in October; for fall semester applications: in February).
From the second semester onward, your tuition payment slip will reflect the reduced amount. - Tuition payment for the semester you applied for during the application period will be deferred. Once your application is approved, please make your payment by the deadline indicated on the revised payment slip reflecting the tuition reduction.
(Spring semester application period: mid-August, Fall semester application period: mid-February) - If, as a result of the continuation review, a suspension or cancellation decision is made after the tuition payment deadline, you may be billed for any shortfall in tuition fees for the relevant semester. The payment deadline for the additional charges will vary depending on the timing of the decision.
- If you are not selected for the JASSO scholarship, a new payment slip for the full tuition amount will be reissued.

- *We will inform students via Campus Terminal (APU’s BBS) when applications open. From 2026 onward, this information will be provided through the Student Portal instead.
- *The application period is different from the JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship.
- *The above schedule may be subject to change.
6. Application Method
Download the documents below. Be sure that you thoroughly read and understand the information in the Application Guidelines. Application documents must be received by the Student Office within the designated application period.
Submit them with the documents required for the JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship*.

If you applied for the JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship when you were a high school student and have received a 採用候補者決定通知 (Reserved Notice), be sure to first complete the enrollment procedures for the JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship and then apply for the Domestic Student Tuition Reduction Scholarship.
