This program is our university's own system that supplements the national "Support System for Higher Education" (hereinafter, the national system) by increasing the amount of tuition reduction up to half of the tuition for students who have been certified by the Japan Student Services Organization (hereinafter, JASSO) as eligible for a valid support category (one of Category I, Category I (Households with multiple children), Category II, Category II (Households with multiple children), Category III, or Category III (Households with multiple children)). (If the amount of reduction under national programs already exceeds half of the tuition, that amount takes precedence and no further reduction will be made).

If you apply under this program, having an active support category in JASSO’s benefit scholarship (one of Category I, Category I (Multiple-Child Household), Category II, Category II (Multiple-Child Household), Category III, or Category III (Multiple-Child Household)) will be a condition for eligibility for the reduction. Therefore, if, as a result of the annual eligibility review of JASSO (continuation evaluation), suspension or abolition is determined, you will be excluded from this program. Unless a determination of suspension or abolition is made, and as long as you will remain classified in one of the above categories and be eligible for this tuition reduction system, the tuition fee will continue to be reduced by half.

4. Tuition Reduction Method / Timing

  • New students who apply for the JASSO Grant-Type Scholarship within three months after enrollment and are certified by JASSO under any of Category I, Category I (Households with multiple children), Category II, Category II (Households with multiple children), Category III, or Category III (Households with multiple children) will be refunded their admissions fee corresponding to the reduction amount for the applicable category.
*Although not eligible by this system, Category IV (Households with multiple children) and Households with multiple children are also eligible to receive an admissions fee refund.
  • Paid tuition fees will be applied to the tuition for the following semester. Therefore, for the following semester a tuition payment slip will be issued showing the amount after deducting the allocated portion. After that, payment slips will be issued for the reduced tuition.
  • Enrolled students will have the tuition for the semester they applied for deferred during the application period. After the exemption/reduction is approved, please pay the tuition by the payment deadline indicated on the reissued payment slip for the reduced amount (the tuition payment deadline for deferred-payment recipients is scheduled to be around mid-July for the spring semester and around mid-February for the fall semester).
  • As a result of the continuation review, if a suspension or termination decision is made after the tuition payment deadline, the shortfall for that semester may be additionally charged.
