May 20, 2025

On April 18, 2025, APU and the Tomeikan Academy (hereafter referred to as “Tomeikan”) held a signing ceremony for a partnership agreement. Attending the ceremony from Tomeikan were Chairman and Principal Genki Jinno, Administrative Director and Assistant to the Chairman Hiroshi Kanazawa, and Director of the International Education Center and International House Yoshihiko Matsumoto, and APU was represented by President Hiroshi Yoneyama and Dean of Admissions Hiroto Sato. Chairman Jinno and President Yoneyama signed the agreement.

Additionally, 20 students from Tomeikan High School and current APU students who graduated from Tomeikan High School participated in the ceremony.

Chairman Jinno expressed his hope that students will grow into global talents needed in modern society through this agreement, while President Yoneyama shared a message encouraging students to practice the "I do" philosophy advocated by Tomeikan at APU and to embark on their journey as individuals who will change the world.

Under the APU 2030 Vision, which declares that "APU Graduates possess the power to change our world," APU is working to create a new regional development model that integrates government, academia, and the private sector, with the university playing a central role. By collaborating with high schools, APU aims to nurture individuals who will change the world by leveraging the multicultural environment where students from 110 countries and regions study together and by engaging in initiatives in partnership with APU faculty from 27 countries and regions.

Under this agreement, the main areas of collaboration are as follows:

Joint Development and Implementation of Educational Programs

  • Joint development of inquiry-based learning programs and workshops that utilize APU’s multicultural and multilingual environment and expertise.
  • Development and implementation of residential training programs at APU in collaboration between Tomeikan High School teachers and APU.
  • Exploration of high school-university collaboration to support career paths, leveraging the comprehensive elective system at Tomeikan High School.

Enhancement and Development of Education

  • Creation of opportunities for interaction between APU students and Tomeikan students (such as campus visits and online exchanges).
