Peer Leader

APU places great importance on the system that allows students from different languages and cultures to grow together through collaboration. In language learning and small seminar classes, students can teach and learn from one another under the guidance of senior students known as "Peer Leaders."

Peer Leaders

For students, "Peer Leaders" are a dependable presence who offer personalized support in both their academic journey and university life. As they guide their junior peers, Peer Leaders acquire various skills such as leadership, communication, and planning abilities that will be valuable in their post-graduation professional lives.

First Year Education TA / Foundations of Global Leadership (FGL) TA

At APU, first-year students are offered courses such as the "Student Success Workshop (SSW)" and the "Multicultural Cooperative Workshop (MCW) " to help them acquire the essential knowledge and skills needed for their academic studies. Additionally, the "Foundation of Global Leadership (FGL)" course is designed to teach leadership models and equip students to excel as leaders in international settings. In these courses, senior students who have been selected as TAs (Teaching Assistants) assist with lectures and exercises. The TAs provide detailed support for students in their studies by facilitating workshops and group work, assisting with research, and offering advice and feedback on report writing and presentations. They also support students in various aspects of university life, including offering guidance on personal matters.

RA (Resident Assistant)

Resident Assistants (RAs) play a key role in managing APU’s first-year dormitory, AP House, and help new residents adjust smoothly to university life in Beppu. They ensure that dormitory rules and knowledge necessary for community living are well understood, and they also plan and execute events to promote interaction among residents. At AP House, where diverse cultures mix, RAs have many opportunities to grow alongside their peers by working together towards the shared goal of supporting dorm residents.
