On September 30, 2015, the APU Cafeteria was authenticated as a Muslim-friendly facility whose menu partially satisfies halal authentication standards as dictated by Islamic law. While APU has been providing halal meals to its Islamic student population since the university was founded, with this authentication, the university has been officially recognized by the Nippon Asia Halal Association (NAHA). Now, any APU student or faculty member who requires a halal menu can take comfort in ordering from the one that the university offers. Among authenticated cafeterias operated by a university co-op, the one at APU is one of the largest in Japan and it offers 36 selections. APU will continue to work towards facilitating the accommodation of a multicultural environment at the university.
