On Wednesday, December 16, Mr. Tomohiro DOAI, Co-Managing Director of Twentieth century Fox Home Entertainment Japan visited APU to deliver a lecture entitled “Difficulty nurtures you to grow; What I learnt from Ayataka and Star Wars”.

In his lecture, he spoke about his assignment to build a new brand, “Ayataka” in a competitive green tea beverage market. He highlighted that being able to establish a new value to the brand, to create message based on the new value, his own passion as well as his supportive project team were the key success factors.

He also talked about his negotiation experience with Lucas Film to launch Star Wars blu-ray disc product to Japan. He stressed the importance of being a good listener and having an ability to present your own idea logically, as each individual has different education background, experience and perspective.

As career advice, Mr. DOAI suggested the students to start drawing the image of their future career path. He encouraged them to prioritize their tasks based on their importance and favorability, and once the job starts, never quit until experienced at least 10,000 hours in that position, believing difficulties make them grow. And if possible, finding a good mentor will also support you to grow further.
Students enthusiastically participated in the lecture, which leaned more towards discussion style, and Mr. DOAI also fed his comments back on their ideas.
