There are reports in the media that one of the suspects in the recent terror attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh is a graduate of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University. It will be extremely distressing if these reports prove to be true. Violence and terrorist acts like this are inexcusable and absolutely contrary to the APU ideals of Freedom, Peace, and Humanity and Mutual International Understanding.

Our international community contains within it a broad diversity of cultures and a wide range of values. While it is natural for there to be some instances of friction between people from different backgrounds, it is our goal that all of the members of our community work together in peace and communicate with respect, learning from each other as they engage in meaningful cultural interactions.

Every one of our staff and faculty uphold the founding ideals of our university, always striving to achieve a higher level of education and research.
