Over the summer, nine students participated in GAIA (Global Internship with Alumni), a program organized by the APU Career Office that matches current students with alumni working both in Japan and abroad.
Students interned with a wide variety of organizations, including the Terra People Association, an NPO that promotes international understanding, IkuZo!, a Japanese education company in Indonesia, the Embassy of the Republic of Maldives, the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd., a newspaper and publication enterprise, Free Spirit Japan, a hospitality business, and REA, a Japanese real estate company.
On November 13 and 14, program participants presented their summer internship experiences at a public event. Each participant shared what they gained from their internship and how they would use their experiences in the future. They also spoke on the importance of learning how to take on new challenges and the networking opportunities available during the internship.
Students from all over the world study at APU and go on a wide range of paths after graduation. GAIA is just one program that supports students in forming career paths over the course of their four years of study at the university. Programs like these give students the opportunity to network with industry professionals while learning practical skills.
