APU Launches Crowdfunding Campaigns

BEPPU - On December 15, APU launched two crowdfunding campaigns with Readyfor, focusing on student education and research that gives back to the local community. The campaigns’ goal is to realize the APU 2030 Vision: APU graduates possess the power to change our world.

Mutual Cooperation for Community Development Through International Exchange

  • Overview: This campaign seeks to advance Japanese language education for APU’s international students through cooperation with local stakeholders. Exchange opportunities will focus on improving disaster preparedness for the increasingly aging community as well as improving local residents’ ability to interact with foreign people. Beppu City aims to become Japan’s top city in terms of multicultural cooperation, as well as a model for the future of the world.
  • Funding Goal: ¥1 million
  • When to Contribute: December 15 to 11:00 on February 14, 2019
  • Minimum Contribution: ¥3000
  • Representative: Center for Language Education Director Akiko Honda
  • Rewards: Appreciation letters from international students, written progress reports, guided campus tours, observations of Japanese classes, and more.

Developing Young Entrepreneurs through the APU Startup Program

  • Overview: The APU Startup Program, also known as the Deguchi School, connects entrepreneurial APU students with alumni and other business leaders to realize student startup business plans. The program’s goal is to launch up to five companies per year.
  • Funding Goal: Although the original \2 million goal has been reached, the program is seeking further support to reach its \3.5 million stretch goal.
  • When to Contribute: December 15 to 11:00 on February 14, 2019
  • Minimum Contribution: ¥3000
  • Rewards: Written progress reports, campus tours, invitations to debriefing/seminar in Tokyo, video calls from President Deguchi, and more.
