20th Anniversary President Deguchi Lecture was held on October 27 at APU Campus with about 60 individuals in attendance. Serving as the lecturer, President spoke on the subject of "What is history?"
During the lecture, President Deguchi observed that world history is all interconnected, so it is pointless to study only Japanese history. He stated that if we look at history in connection with the world, then we will understand its appeal. President Deguchi raised specific historical events such as "How did Buddhism come to be introduced to Japan?" and "Why did Japan close itself off from outsiders?" and then, matching that background with the state of affairs throughout the world at those times, he explained those events.
