On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, Consul-General Sorut Sukthaworn visited APU from the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Fukuoka. He discussed future cooperation between the consulate and APU with President Deguchi and Vice President Yoneyama. Consul-General Sukthaworn said he anticipates more Thai students will be able to study at APU if the pandemic situation improves in the future. He was also looking forward to the support and events related to Thailand that APU students are working on.
The day of the visit just happened to be on the second day in-person classes on campus were resumed and he was able to observe a Thai I class. The Consulate-General, which promotes the spread and learning of the Thai language, donated books related to Thailand to the students.
The Consul-General encouraged the students who had just started learning Thai, "When we meet again, let's have a conversation in Thai. I would be ecstatic if someone from this class would work together with us at the consulate someday.”
