Faculty and graduate students from the Department of Asia Pacific Studies (APS)at APU have published the academic book 'Handbook of Indo-Pacific Studies' through collaboration with researchers from Warsaw University and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland, in March 2023. A publication celebration event was held on May 24th (Wednesday) to commemorate this achievement.

Designed as educational material for graduate students in the European Union (EU) region, the book features an analysis of the Indo-Pacific's role in international politics from a wide range of perspectives, including politics, economics, and security. The interdisciplinary approach presented in the book has garnered attention from international relations researchers and experts. With support from Erasmus+, the electronic version of the book has also been made accessible in open access.

Professor Yoichiro Sato, one of the authors and co-editors of the book and Dean of the College of Asia Pacific Studies, Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, said the following:
“This book, assembled mainly by European and Asian scholars, facilitates a view of the growing Sino-American conflict in the Indo-Pacific region from the perspective of stakeholders other than the American and Chinese superpowers. Numerous contributors dedicated their efforts to multiple revisions, and the challenges faced during the editing process were many. It is a great honor that APU was chosen as the coordinating university for this international project, and I am immensely proud that participation from APU's graduate students was recognized."
